Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 1, 2025

Operated by Daniel Pinckard · hello@shootspotapp.com · shootspotapp.com

This Privacy Policy explains how Daniel Pinckard (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use ShootSpot (“the Service”) at shootspotapp.com. By using ShootSpot, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

When you create an account and use ShootSpot, we collect:

  • Name and email address (provided during registration or via Google Sign-In).
  • Profile information including your professional title, bio, website, Instagram handle, and home base location.
  • Location data you voluntarily enter, including coordinates, names, descriptions, photos, and notes.
  • Session plan content, including client names you choose to enter and curated location lists.
  • Photos you upload to your location library.
  • Payment information processed by our third-party payment providers (we do not store payment card details directly).

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, we automatically collect:

  • Device type, operating system, and browser information.
  • IP address and approximate geographic location.
  • Pages and features accessed, and time spent on the Service.
  • Session plan link view counts and interaction data.

1.3 Information from Third Parties

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. We do not receive or store your Google password.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Process subscription payments and manage billing.
  • Send transactional emails including account confirmations, password resets, and receipts.
  • Display your locations and session plans to you and, where you choose, to your clients via shared links.
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve features and fix bugs.
  • Respond to your support requests and communications.
  • Use automated systems and artificial intelligence to organize, tag, enrich, moderate, and analyze your submitted content — including location names, descriptions, photos, and notes — to improve search functionality, generate recommendations, and enhance your experience.
  • Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Ever.

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 With Your Clients (at Your Direction)

When you generate a session plan share link and send it to a client, the content of that plan — location names, photos, and notes you have designated as client-facing — becomes accessible to anyone with that link. You control what is included and who receives the link.

3.2 With Service Providers

We share data with trusted third-party providers who help us operate the Service:

  • Supabase — database hosting and authentication infrastructure.
  • Google — Sign-In authentication and mapping services.
  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Resend / Amazon SES — transactional email delivery.
  • Third-party AI providers — content enrichment, tagging, search improvement, and moderation. These providers are contractually prohibited from using your content to train their own models or for any purpose beyond the specific services they provide to us.

These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and use it only to provide services to us.

3.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of ShootSpot, our users, or the public.

3.4 Business Transfers

If ShootSpot is acquired, merged, or its assets are sold, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email prior to your data being transferred and subject to a different privacy policy.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure, hosted on AWS (Amazon Web Services). We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encrypted data transmission using HTTPS/TLS.
  • Row-level security (RLS) policies that enforce each user can only access their own data.
  • Supabase Auth for secure credential management.

No system is completely secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security and are not liable for unauthorized access resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

5. Your Private Notes

ShootSpot allows you to add private notes to your locations — parking tips, personal observations, vendor contacts, and similar details. These notes are marked “Private” and are never included in client-facing session plan views. They are stored securely and are only accessible to you while logged into your account.

6. AI Processing of Your Content

By using ShootSpot, you agree that we may use automated systems and artificial intelligence to organize, analyze, tag, enrich, and review your submissions — including location names, descriptions, photos, and notes — for the purpose of improving search functionality, generating location recommendations, moderating content, and enhancing the overall user experience.

AI processing may be performed by ShootSpot directly or through trusted third-party AI service providers. Such providers are contractually prohibited from using your content to train their own models or for any purpose beyond the specific services they provide to us.

AI-generated enrichments (such as suggested tags or descriptions) are supplemental and do not replace your own notes or settings. You remain in control of your content and can edit or remove any AI-generated additions at any time.

7. Cookies and Tracking

ShootSpot uses cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you signed in across sessions.
  • Remember your preferences.
  • Analyze usage and improve the Service.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the Service.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion — request that we delete your account and associated data.
  • Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Objection — object to certain uses of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hello@shootspotapp.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8.1 Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from your Profile settings. Deleting your account removes your personal information, locations, photos, and session plans from our active systems. Some data may be retained in backups for up to 90 days before permanent deletion.

8.2 GDPR / UK GDPR (EEA and United Kingdom Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under GDPR or UK GDPR. Our legal basis for processing your data is your consent (where applicable) and the performance of our contract with you. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe we have not handled your data appropriately.

9. Children’s Privacy

ShootSpot is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately at hello@shootspotapp.com and we will delete it promptly.

10. International Users

ShootSpot is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using ShootSpot, you consent to this transfer.

11. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this document and notify you via email or an in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
